Deneys, as aprt of a global team, advised on the acquisition by Infinity Power of the entire shareholding of Lekela Power, an Africa-focused wind energy platform operating 1GW of projects across South Africa, Egypt and Senegal, with a further 1.8GW development pipeline.
The transaction establishes Infinity Power as Africa’s largest pure-play renewable energy company and represents one of the most significant renewable energy platform deals on the continent.
Deneys’ team was led by partners Jackie Midlane, Rosalind Lake and Marianne Wagener, who advised on the South African and competition law aspects of the transaction as part of the broader cross-border mandate. The deal required coordinated expertise across M&A, finance and regulatory disciplines, reflecting the complexity of large-scale renewable energy investments spanning multiple African jurisdictions.
Deneys continues to act on leading renewable energy transactions in South Africa and across the continent, advising sponsors, investors, lenders and offtakers on wind, solar, battery storage and hybrid projects. The firm’s involvement in the Infinity/Lekela transaction reinforces its position as a leading South African adviser in the renewables sector and a key player in Africa’s energy transition.
